Balboa City School

It is widely known that the body’s ability to move is directly correlated with its ability to learn. These two interdependent systems provide the framework for the brain to sequence the patterns needed for academic concepts. Most people obtain the key movements associated with learning in early brain development. However, if this stage is missed, the consequences can be profound. The good news is that these skills can be reintroduced and enhanced at any age.

At Balboa City School, though our on-site motor lab, we incorporate daily development in neurological organization, sensory integration (vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile processing), visual processing, auditory processing, bilateral coordination, hand-eye coordination, and motor planning. Our on-staff Occupational Therapist works with each child to develop a program to address their individual needs. The results can been seen not only in the student’s ability to learn but their ability to enjoy the process. And, it’s a lot of fun.
