Balboa City School

Direct Education, UCSD Extension, Visits BCS

Dear Dr. Parker,

I hope this correspondence finds you well and in wonderful spirits!

I wanted to send you a brief email to thank you for the visit to Balboa City School and to let you know how impressed I was with the campus, students and teachers. To say the least, I was awestruck by the sophisticated levels of conversation between students and between students and teachers around the curriculum. There was a palpable ‘buzz’ of comfort, engagement and challenge—an ideal environment for learning and teaching.

I appreciate the way in which Balboa City School is able to offer an integrated and cross-disciplinary experience for pupils—and experience that is contextually grounded and differentiated to suit the need of every student. The school’s leadership and teaching faculty seem to have grasped the complexities of the affective and cognitive in working with students, not to mention their keen interest in student as individual.

Balboa City School is an inspiration to those of us who have years in the field of education. Again, thank you for the opportunity to visit, and I look forward to working with you in the near future.

Best regards,

Morgan P. Appel
